Hello Everyone!!! Christine with Pattercrafts here to share this “summery” Christmas Card using the Deck the Palms stamp set by Pink and Main. I am a native Vermonter, therefore, my thoughts of Christmas involve jack frost nipping at my nose, the hope for a snowy Christmas morning, drinking hot chocolate while we search for the perfect Christmas tree. As some of you may or may not know, I am currently living in Florida and well… Christmas has a different feel!! There isn’t much of a scenery change, even during this festive time of year. We wear shorts on Christmas morning, our Christmas Trees are hauled down on a truck and hot cocoa might be traded in for a frappuccino. This stamp set is PERFECT for creating a different kind of Christmas card.
I made an A2 size (4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches), landscape card today. I wanted to create a Florida Christmas scene using the palm tree with the stockings image and to frame it with pattern paper. I chose a piece of 6×6 pattern paper from the Really Rainbow Christmas paper pad by Lawn Fawn. Since a “summer” scene is non-traditional I thought it would be fun to bring in some non-traditional colors with the pattern paper.
I cut a card base from a piece of white 110lb card stock and the piece of pattern paper to measure 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches. I stamped out the palm tree image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and used Copic markers to color the image.
Copic Colors Used:
Palm Tree and Grass: YG13, YG17, YG67, G28 (grass only) E21, E34 Ribbon (stockings hang from): R30, R32 Stockings: YG06, YG67, R27, V17, R30, B41, B28, “Sky area” E00
I decided to make the frame using the pattern paper that has various Christmas Greetings. I used a rectangle die to cut out where my scene would show through. I used foam tape around that frame to pop it up from the scene.
On the inside of the card, I stamped the flamingo stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black in and the greeting “Deck the Palms” with Delicata Silvery Shimmer pigment ink.
Lastly, I used a variety of Nuvo Crystal and Glitter drops for the lights around the trees. The colors I used (as written on the bottle): Sherbert Shimmer, Blue Lagoon, Crushed Grape, Gloss-Red Berry and Gloss Woodland Green.
Thank You for stopping by today, there is also a video up on the SFL YouTube Channel if you’d like to see the making of this card.
I hope you enjoy and get inspired!!!
